Yarrr, that be the end of the storyline, folks.

Unfortunately, I don't think Phil's quite gotten over his recent spate of illness, so it could be a week or so between Steve and Mac updates. I could probably write some myself see, but no doubt they wouldn't be half as good. :-/ In any case, Strangely Normal's gonna update so you'll at least have something up to read if there's no SaM.

Hookay, so sorry for disappearing like that. Real life kicked in and demanded I get a new job, so I had to handle all that before I could make time for recreation again.

But I'm back. Strangely Normal will resume updating next week on Monday, the 20th, and will update for at least three weeks after that. No ifs, ands, or buts unless the servers just completely crash or something. If all goes well, Steve and Mac will start updating again next week too, with the conclusion to the Night of the Living Mac storyline.

And hopefully a lag like that will never happen again.

Again, my sincerest apologies for that recent lack of updates. A variety of things combined at once to make this week awfully hectic (including me breaking my glasses), so not only have I been both busy and incapacitated on a certain level, a good bit of it can be chalked up to good old laziness, for which there's no excuse.

But there's updates again.

For the time being, anyway. No Strangely Normal for Monday either, as I haven't gotten around to it just yet. In fact, I'm still trying to get completely caught up with everything this week... but SN will resume tomorrow. I have enough scripts for the rest of the week at least (all two days of 'em), so that's fine for now.

Erk. I'm back now, yes. There's been a little hiccup in the comics unfortuneately. We have the strips written out, but unfortunately, Zeph managed to break or lose his glasses. (I forget which, but i'm leaning towards the former.) Anyway, what this means is we'll be unable to update for a little while. Feel free to share your anger via forum.

Okay, so things got a little bit more hectic than I would've liked. My bad...

In compensation, I've done up today's and Thursday's comics at once, so you get two for the price of one today. Sorry, no Strangely Normal though... not only did I not have a good joke, I also don't have the time right now.

Oh, and how silly of me... I forgot to mention here that Philip is and has moved, so for the time being all things comic related will be handled by me (not that there's much to do...). In addition, your current Steve and Mac storyline is being written, drawn, and otherwise produced entirely by me. So sit back and enjoy, peeps... and you too, Philip. =)

Reg: Today's comic

I dedicate today's comic to Dan Shive of EGS and Xerj of Konsekai: Swordwaltzer, who deal with more complaints about their update schedules than they should.

You guys rock, don't let the naysayers get you down!

Yes indeed, it's comic number 100 today, the first of many milestones! But I do warn you to hang in there, it's HUUUUUGE. To reward you for sticking with us all this time (or for picking this up for the first time), I made this comic extra extra long... and as a result it kinda tops 400 kb. ^^; BUT IT'S WORTH IT, I swear!

Thank you very much and here's to another few hundred episodes of Steve and Mac!

Ahh, Diablo II, such time we've wasted upon you. I wonder if Diablo III will ever come out. At this rate it seems more like we're never gonna get the sequel to Starcraft we've been dying for, or the third Diablo. Such a shame. Hurr hurr, World of Starcraft, hurr hurr.

Yes, it's true... Strangely Normal the comic will be coming to a definite end soon. I'd decided some time ago that she'd outlived herself, and that it was time to just let it go. And so, once it has officially ended, I will remove SN from the main archives and place the entirety of the comic into a separate archive on the site, where it'll be relegated to the history books. It'll also have its own interface for browsing the comic, which will actually most likely be much simpler for people to use than the main way of doing things here. The new HTML code and webpages have already been written, so the changeover will come with another sweeping site update the weekend after Strangely Normal has completed - most likely on the Sunday of that week.

Other than that, all's well that goes well over here... ... ... ...ahem... yeah. So you can go away. And read other comics now.

...Stop reading.

...No seriously. You bother me. GO AWAY!

Surely the more astute of our readers can now notice a few... "changes" made to the site. Personally, I think it all looks better this way. :-) There's more yet to come as far as major (minor?) and sweeping site changes, including one major announcement coming up in the next week. What is it? You'll just have to wait, read, and see...

Well, congratulations folks... the month of May 2006 broke every single stats record that Comicgenesis keeps for us... from hits and visits through sites referred and files served. In fact, the server dished out 12,000+ files, almost 20,000 hits (in the traditional sense, "hits" in this case may be closer to 595, I just can't tell), and over 380 megabytes of information for the entire month. I'm not too sure how good or bad those stats are, but from where I'm sitting, they look pretty impressive. :-) Especially considering every one of them is a new high for the comic... can we say we're movin' on up now? B-)

Only time will tell... *ominous music*

New comic linked today! One Question, by Cheeko (don't ask me what her real name, I don't have a clue), a semi-weekly fantasy story with awesome art, despite her best efforts to convince you to the contrary. :-P I only wish I could do full-color arts like that.

ANYway, head on over to the links section and check it out. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. -_^ Along with Shades of Grey, it's the most original webcomic I've seen yet.

For those of you tuning in today, I'm sure it's easy enough to notice that the site has had a complete overhaul done on it. Strangely Normal is now in its own archive (linked to right), you can now read About the comic, and we have a shop! Ye gods, the excitement!

Yes, that means that now you can buy Steve and Mac swag from our Cafepress shop, and support the cause! There are many more additions too, like the media files linked at right, including a wallpaper of Mac, and while I was at it I cleaned up some of our folders on the site, too. So no more clutter.

Well, other than that... there's not much else to say. Because nothing much has really changed.

Hello, minor site update. More links have been added to the Links page (imagine that), including links out to Earthbound, The Dreamwalker Chronicles, Beautiful Skies (love the style), There's a Civilization on my Fork, and - my personal favorite of these - Jack. I've also updated the news section so it's not so out of date, and, since most of you probably don't say since I didn't mention it, there's now a ZH Sez section to the site now, where Philip rambles about whatever topic crosses his mind. It may receive an update of its own eventually, but at the moment I can't really get around to it. Maybe later.

Anyway, that's all there is. For now.

Yeah, Zeph hates the attention, but I looooove it. The more popular, the better. In fact, I think I should spread the word more, just to spite him. Bwahahaha.

Christ, though, its been a year guys. I can remember when S&M was just an idea in my head, and now we're here. I suspect that the people that read our comic just give it casual glances, but I don't care much.

He lies, its not thousands, its more like, hundreds. We're getting there. I mean hell, is this how you treat the man that teamed up with the Loch Ness monster to kill Zombie SuperSteve? IS IT?!

Sagebrush suspects I gave her that fanart of Arkaine just to get a link up on the site. XP Noooo, that's not the case, I only draw fanarts and guest comics for comics that I really like, and I really like Arkaine guy for whatever reason.

I also loathe popularity. Means I'm not doing my job right.

Anyway, I forgot to mention last week that Steve and Mac and Strangely Normal passed their one year anniversary. Happened last week on the 18th-19th, in fact. I was gonna bang up a one-year anniversary pic for SN, but I never got around to it.

In any case, there's to one year and many more. And if you've been here since the beginning with us... shame on you. There's thousands of better things to read out there than us. ;P

BUT OHO! GUESS WHAT?! The comic's buffered all the fuck way through October! So there will be no hiccups at all. Sweeeeet.

Ahem, anyway, in other news, I've uploaded more media to the ... um, media section... specifically, a zipped archive of all Steve and Mac comics plus fillers and holiday specials from numbers one through 100, to help all you new people get caught up quick. Today you should see an update of the website.

The astute of you will notice that there's no more TBR or SN anywhere here. But fear not! For they've been moved to the new, parallel site at SS Comix, which also features two new comics. That's right, TWO new comics!

The first being Comicarotica, which will begin shortly enough and updates once weekly on the weekend (Saturdays, in fact). The second is Charlie Sev, which is a comic that I strongly advise against younger kids from reading, which is why I've rated it NC-17, for literally everything that could warrant such a rating, from violence and drug references to explicit sexual content. Basically, if your parents don't want you watching Scarface, don't let them see you reading Charlie.

You've been given fair warning.

In addition, another link to a comic has been added, that being to One-Liners, a comic by Shishio, who is about as much an asshole as me and Philip. =P Go check it out, you'll roffle.

Aside from that, there's nothing else really new going on. Sorry about the ad on SS Comix right now, but Comicarotica will start soon, I promise. The first two months' worth have already been completed.

'Nother minor site update. New links added, to The Institute of Metaphysics, Strange Happenings, Imo, and to Treading Ground and Life's a Witch, who now appear in the Friends of SMac link exchange banner system up top. See up there? Right up top the header image. It's part of a new link exchange program that Lando set up which I've unofficially named the East Coast Mafia Link Exchange system. ;)

Outside of that, nothing's changed, so... see ya next time there's a major change coming. Which is actually quite soon enough, believe it or not.

Y'know, i'm really bad at this whole, news update on time thing. Because I tend to forget, and I can't do it really simple. I mean, not that its hard to log into the FTP, but lets face it, i'm lazy. Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving folks. Yeah, listen to Zeph, vote for us to boost my ego. My ego is a beautiful thing.

For any of you that might have ever glanced at ZH Sez, you might've noticed that that doesn't update much either, but the reason for that is pretty simple. I only update that when i'm inebriated. Well... usually, at least.

All that aside, it's very nice to see that people are starting to enjoy our work, we've been around for over a year now, and hopefully we'll be here for years more. No, it's not the comics birthday, that was a few months ago. But hey, my birthday is the 24th, so I'm allowed to feel all, weird like. Also, thanks to Cheeko for that fanart. It's pretty cool, lord knows i'm not personally pleased with being a furry, and she seems to have even captured my irateness. Bravo.

Alas, the artist is sick.

Again.

I seem to be having a bad spate of illnesses, which I blame on a combination of catching the bugs from family members, or from stress. This one I attribute to stress.

Therefore, I'm not in so great a shape for making comics, letting alone feeling like making them. The goods news, though, is that Steve and Mac's buffered for the next two weeks, Comicarotica's in all the way through next year, and I'm about a third done with the second chapter of Charlie. I'm not gonna fret over it.

*sniffle* Well, there's my cue to get to bed already. The Nyquil should kick in soon, and other'n that, I just gotta try and rough it out best I can. This week's gonna be especially brutal, so I don't expect to get much of anything done with the comics. It's gonna be bad because of all the time-splitting between my two jobs and needing to rest in-between them, with the little time that I'll get to rest.

Which is, wouldn't you know, how I got sick in the first place. Sigh...

Well, here comes a big, important announcement...

After talking it over with Philip (a little), we've decided to run a Guest Week here at Steve and Mac. Basically, we're encouraging and accepting guest comics from now through the new year, in what amounts to an attempt to get some of our artistically inclined readers to send us guest comics, thereby giving us a week or two of slack. A mini-vacation of sorts. Lord knows Philip needs it most, he's got stuff goin' on right now, that... well... stress plus work equals not happening, right people?

There's no prize for this, really, besides the infamy of being featured in the archives, although I guess if it's an added incentive to make people draw us guesty stuff, me and Philip will go over a prize list and talk about it in general... make a contest out of it if enough readers/artists decide they want something in return. =P

Not that I'm against that, since I'm obviously one hell of a busy bee where making guest comics is concerned, myself.

Well then, details, details... they'll start running the third of January, after our New Year's special, and keep going for as many days as we get guest comics. If that means one, then it'll be for the one day. If it's seven then, it'll be for two-plus weeks. You guys decide. If submissions are still coming in while the guest week is going on, then they'll only extend the week by those many days as we'll keep taking them; the week won't officially end until we flat run out of material. No holds barred either, you can submit whatever floats your fancy. Stick figures, action heroes, porn heroes, I really don't think we care much. We're not likely to turn one away. Lastly, send all submissions to our email address.

Again, that's 1-800-WE-SUCKS. Operators are standing by.

You can also let us know if you guys think you deserve a little compensation, too. A little giving begets getting, eh? =)

Addendum: The width of all comics submitted should be 750 pixels or less. This way everything fits in the archives, and oversized comics won't break our layouts.

Happy Holidays

Thursday, December 14, 2006

Philip

Starting now until the end of the first week of January we'll be accepting guest comics to have a guest comic week. So all you Steve and Mac fans feel free to send us a couple, no limit on how many we're willing to take, so really it's just up to however many people may choose to make. After which we will return to our regularly scheduled Steve and Mac. To submit a guest comic, you can check out our contact page but our email address is steveandmac(at)gmail.com Thanks a lot guys, looking forward to seeing what anyone produces.
