July | August | September | October | November | December Tuesday, January 23, 2006PhilipSorry about the lack of word from my end, lord knows i'm pretty bad about this stuff. I like how us getting our domain name coincides so well with something that's coming soon. In other news, my life is entering a bit of turbulence once more, so, I might become as ghostlike as my partner here. We've still got plenty of comics coming, though, so don't worry. Tuesday, January 23, 2006KevinWell, your esteemed (hah!) artist has come down with some sort of bug. Again. I seem to be coming down with these illnesses much more often in the last couple months than I ever have in my entire life. Regardless, I'm not like your typical artist that tries to plug away right through sickness. No, my personal prescription is rest and plenty of it. So while it's hard for me to sleep anyway when I'm sick, that's what I've been trying solely to do for the last week. That's not to say the comic won't update... I've got a three week buffer going so I have that long to get better. Just means that I'm basically not gonna be anywhere online very much at all until I start feeling a little better. Ah, and, since it's on my mind, Steve and Mac has a spiffy new address, perfect for remembering and showing to your friends. Please, friends... don't abuse it. ;) DeuceMonday, January 1, 2006KevinHappy New Year's! Well, our guest comic thing was a complete failure. And we got bounced out of the first round of the webcomic battle faster than Chicago under Dick Jauron. Really, I don't know what Philip was thinking on that one... But! Life goes on, of course. New storyline beginning this week, and don't feel hesitant to check out one of my newest guest comics over at Fletcher's Apartments! I'm not sure exactly when it'll show, 'cause it seems to be hung in some kind of buffer miscue, but it'll be there eventually. There's also a small site update goin' on here, mainly in the color scheme. Well, have a safe Monday, and please... do something about those hangovers of yours. I can smell your breath all the way on my end... >.< AddendumLooks like Monday's a busy today for our little website... today is the launching of Reader's Choice Charity, a little thing I cooked up last month. How it works is... we will collect money each month to go towards a cause. This money will be collected through a Paypal account (mine own personal account, regrettably, but there's little I can do about it at the moment...) all through the month, and at the end of the month, this money will be totalled and distributed to the charity that wins the drive. That there's where this little monthly thing gets unique... you see, all the donations will go towards the charity of your choosing... the catch is, it goes to the charity of your choosing... you, the readers. You can vote in the poll to the left - what will now be featured permanently below our shoutbox - for the charity that you think most worthy of your donations. The options listed are not concrete, however... if you can think of another worthy cause, you're certainly free to donate, and then write in your charity of choice to our email address, on condition that they accept either Paypal donations or credit card donations (I'm fairly confident I can transfer funds through my bank account and then through my debit/credit card to push the donations through in the event one doesn't accept Paypal donations). This charity will then be a "write-in" candidate in the voting. This month I neglected to include the "Other" option, but in essence, it's there. With each new month too, the charities will rotate. This month there's a selection of four, but as we learn of more organizations this list will grow and change, along with the options we present to you. The goal, obviously, is to collect as much as we can to give the winning organization the most help we can at once. The results of each month's collections will be kept stored for posterity, so that you may look back upon previous months' accomplishments, and reflect on what you've helped give that month. We won't ask for any personal information (at least, I do believe that's how I had it set up...) and we won't ask you to identify yourself... you can remain as anonymous as you like. This is obviously not about us or you... it's about the beneficiaries of the drives. So please... won't you lend a hand? ;) (Disclaimer: Steve and Mac and the SS Comix family do not ask for nor accept donations for the comic or the creators themselves [certainly not at the moment]. All proceeds will go towards the charities mentioned, and nowhere else.) We don't ask for your money for ourselves. * Notice: This month's charity One.org doesn't accept donations, but one of their partners will receive any benefits should they win the drive. Happy HolidaysMonday, February 26, 2006KevinJust literally a couple minutes under the deadline today. 'Kay, so, I rushed it and it shows. I was too tired when sketching/inking so it looks like crap today... but at least not so much like crap it kills the joke. I was too tired to care, really. Anyway, back to sleeping for me. Or work. Whichever comes first, really. DeuceMonday, February 19, 2006KevinOkay, first time in a very long time a comic's been late. There were sleeping issues involved, but you're still getting your Monday dosage, just... well... late. DeuceSaturday, February 10, 2006KevinMORE FANART! We are shocked. SHOCKED. Well, maybe not that shocked... but it's great nonetheless. =) Our third piece in the history of the place comes by way of the incomparable Hikaroo, an artist I've known for years. So why don't I show her stuff off more, you ask? She doesn't produce much artwork publicly, I'm afraid. :( So come on, guys... get going with the asking of commissions from her so she can retire and makes the arts for a living. ;) DeuceFriday, February 9, 2006KevinOkay, so it's like... a week late, but I finally got all the stuff from last month's RCC done. First I drug my feet, then I plain forgot... my bads. But there's a new poll up! Help make this a success, peoples. More options this month, too. DeuceFriday, February 2, 2007PhilipGeez, man, Kevin talks a lot. But yeah, we shattered statistics. Steve and Mac is on that slow uphill ride right now. We even crushed our older TWC rating, though now it's been reset. So let me just add, hey don't forget to vote for us! I voted for Child's Play, so go with that. I kind of briefly mentioned something before, but it was pretty undetailed, as, well, I was stressed out. I'm moving back to Arizona, which has really made a bunch of my friends eager. But, it's stressing me out because I have to get a job and go move out on my own, since i'm 18 now. Any suggestions in jobs for an intelligent, sarcastic bastard? And hey, guys, don't forget if you ever want to get a hold of me to talk, or Zeph. We've got a chatroom, a forum, and our e-mail address, all of which can be used to speak with us. They all have links on the site, too. There's also ZHsez, which will connect you to some rants. Alright, then.
ZH outFriday, February 2, 2006KevinA day late, but all the same... January Monthly ReportJanuary was a busy enough month for Steve and Mac/SS Comix... perhaps the busiest of any on record. Let's start with site statistics... the month of January broke every single major stat on record. Visists, hits, files served... here's the summary for January:
As far as the totals go, we didn't just break or set every single record... we shattered them. Congrats, people... we're on the slow track up in the webcomic world. =) Reader's Choice CharityThis month we raised $25.00, which will go towards either Child's Play or the Red Cross. Philip will have the tiebreaker, the money will be delivered once he's made his decision. New poll early this week. IV Comics CollectiveSadly, we lost Lando from the collective... but we have gained several new members, and control of the site's design has seemingly fallen upon me now. The new site design will be uploaded in full sometime soon... and by "soon" I mean, as soon as I feel like finishing off the site design. I'm still getting over my sickness and I'm feeling very mentally drained yet. I expect bigger things from IV Comics in the future... The ComicsSteve and Mac continues to inch closer and closer to big number 200... Comicarotica is, well... being itself... Work on Charlie, however, has stalled. My sickness combined with my transition between jobs has robbed me of the energy to finish episode three. However, I will finish it soon, so expect sometime by the end of February or the beginning of March. In the meantime, I will begin looking for willing puiblishers in earnest this month. On today's news...Well, that about does it for January's events, I suppose... today I'll be doing something special with the site, as you can very plainly see. In (rough) coordination with A&M's "Pink Out" week, I'll be Pinking Out the site today (obviously) in support of breast cancer research. Philip couldn't possibly care any less about breast cancer, but he's okay'd this, so it'll be up for a full day. Back to our usual color scheme tomorrow. P.S. In addition, the archive page has been broken for a few days, I know... I didn't fix it until today, because I was trying to get certain effects out of the CSS. I couldn't, but I met a compromise. DeuceFriday, March 30, 2006KevinBetter get this outta the way: Starting next week (Tuesday) I'm gonna move Steve and Mac to a two-a-week schedule instead of three-a-week, so we'll be updating on Tuesdays and Thursdays temporarily instead of the usual Monday-Wednesday-Friday. I don't know how long it'll last, but I do know it's only for as long as it takes to get a certain kind of buffer going again so I can switch back to MWF updating without killing myself metaphysically. Whether that's a month or three months I can't say, but just bear with us for a while and I'll get it fixed again. Smile, people! It's life.Monday, March 5, 2006PhilipI blame the dutch, personally. ZH outMonday, March 5, 2006KevinLate again. I blame video games. >: DeuceFriday, March 2, 2006Kevin'Kay, well, I tried to translate into Spanish using what little I knew, but I'm betting it's still way off. In any case, I hope our readers know enough Spanish to get the gist of the joke. :) DeuceThere were no news items reported for April. Tuesday, May 15, 2006KevinI'm afraid I'm going to have to inconvenience everyone yet again. See, I simply don't have the energy or motivation this month to keep up with even a two-a-week udpate schedule, so I'm going to have to take this back again to just once a week, on Fridays. This is probably going to last at least two more months too, because I just can't see my situation changing for the better any sooner than that... I'm going to need some serious cash coming in from here until then to fix my issues, and more money means less energy through the way of more work and less down time. So that's it in a nutshell. Until I fix my personal issues and get out of the summer months, we're going to be updating on Fridays only. Beginning with this week. DeuceTuesday, May 1, 2006KevinI know, I know, I've been horrible at keeping up the RCCs on time... but I got it done in timely fashion this month. We'll just see about next month. I really oughta update with stats for them, too, so here they are:
In all, a total of $90.00 has been raised for charity. Nice round number there. Plenty of sensual curves... (Kiff: *groan*) In SMac-related news, the update schedule will have to stay where it is for now. I can't say when it'll go back to three-a-weeks, but just not anytime soon. And if you haven't already, check out IV Comics, the collective we're a member of. There's many other (better) webcomics up there; some more veteran, most more notorious. I have to say that I'm happy to say SS Comix [Comicarotica] seems to be growing a cult following. CRotica's really coming into its own now that I'm doing most of the writing, and going in its own (I think) unique direction. There are some links and comics that I really need to put up on our links page (go figure), but I just don't feel like it right now. Maybe later. That's all for now, though... until next time. AmendmentAll right, so... added those links I was talking about... Property of Gwen, Chicken Wings, The Drunk Duck Civil War, and The Book of Biff. Not that many, sure, but there's the few more I've picked up reading in the past few months. Smile, people! It's life.Sunday, June 17, 2006KevinThe comics for the fifth of January, 2007, and the tenth of April, 2007, have been censored. Philip didn't order me to in so many words, but he's implied it wasn't his wishes to have partial nudity a part of the comic... Whoops. :x In other news, I have nothing new to report. Which is starting to become frustrating, really. Tuesday, June 12, 2007PhilipOkay, you've probably been waiting for my take on the situation, that is if anyone still checks the site at this point. I'm sorry for the lack of word from me, I still have issues with my family. Anyway, here's what's up. Kevin can't do this anymore, it's just too much work for him, so i'm going to be looking for another artist, much as I don't want to. However, this will not be happening quite yet. The reason why being that i'm getting ready to move back to Arizona, and the prospects of my internet are not yet clear. I mean, I will get it at some point, but I can't say i'll have it within the first week or two of my being back, as I have to get a job and scrape together rent for the apartment i'm being thrown into. I know, I know, I said there wouldn't be another hiatus, but sometimes bad things happen, y'know? Anyway, this is going to be the last hiatus, I promise. If I end up being a liar about it, you can go ahead and just lynch me, alright? So Steve and Mac isn't dead, just 'paused'. Trust me, I love writing this too much to let it just die. Questions? Comments? Email us/me or direct them to the shoutbox. We'll never die.DeuceTuesday, June 5, 2006KevinUntil further notice, updates will have to be suspended indefinitely. When they'll resume, I can't say for now, but the maximum time frame is about a year (pending a new artist coming aboard). More information when I get it, and if I get an opportunity to share it. DeuceSunday, July 1, 2006KevinI still have nothing new to report on my real-life status, so it's just mum on that front. The RCC for May/June raised $25.00 for Child's Play (tiebreaker by Philip), and the new one should now be up and ready. Elseways there's just nothing new to report, really. DeuceTuesday, August 7, 2006KevinJuly's RCC raised $27.00 for Red Cross... and convincingly so! Six votes to two total for the others... impressive. August's is up now. As for the new artist? Still working with her. It's slow going, true, but we're trying to get there... Philip's not ready to give up and neither am I, I'm just... focusing my energies elsewhere. Especially on my Comicarotica project and a seemingly renewed interest in the written word. No, not the Bible... I'm writing fiction again. =) Dun dun dunnnn.Tuesday, September 11, 2006Kevin9/11... But today, we're not gonna focus on that. RCC for August raised $41.00 for Child's Play, our highest total yet. :D Septemeber's is now up... Umm... not much else to add, really. :/ Still can't find an artist, but we're still in the midst of searching. Hopefully we'll land someone we can all agree on soon so we can get back to work... Also. Some websites seem to be doing Breast Cancer Awareness stuff now, and since I can't really figure out if this is the official time of year for it, I'm gonna deck out the site for the day in pink anyway. =) It's our awareness day, at least... or at least it is for me. Philip just doesn't care much for any of this sociopolitical crap. =P Later.Monday, November 5, 2006KevinSeptember's RCC raised 33 dollars for Child's Play, while October's raised $36, also for Child's Play. We're turning into a pretty big contributor the CP. =P November's is now up. STILL artist-less, but we'll get there... somehow, some way. Arrr...Wednesday, December 5, 2006KevinNovember's RCC raised another thirty-one bucks for - you guessed it - Child's Play. =P December's is now up... LAST MONTH OF THE YEAR, FOLKS! Give while the givin's good! =D 'Tis the Season to Empty Your Wallet... |
